CELEBRATE PUANGA WITH US
“Mātai ki te Rangi, tērā ko Puanga, te tohu mō te tau hou - Gaze towards the heavens, there is Puanga, heralding the new year”

Puanga a time for Reflection
It is a time to reflect on the past, acknowledging those who have passed on whilst looking towards the future and the up coming new season.

Puanga a time for celebration
Celebrate Puanga with friends and family around the Ruapehu, Whanganui, and Rangitikei regions.
Puanga a time for preparation
It is during this time that we traditionally prepared for the colder weather by making clothing, collecting winter foods, transplanting or planting shrubs and trees.

Puanga a time for learning
After months of physical activity during the warm months, winter was a time to feed the spirit and mind, to learn chants, genealogy and history. This is continued today throughout many whānau, hapu and iwi.
